We represent a private language school that has been successfully conducting business in the field of education for 11 years thanks to its students. One of our crucial aims is to make our students into well-educated, responsible, self-confident and competitive people whose results predetermine them for becoming successful in their studies and work. In the educational process we put emphasis on the fact that the students ought to have the largest space in order to be able to perform their language skills. That enables us to create such a language school that can provide with the best quality in teaching foreign languages. Choosing the language teachers team as well as appropriate school books and teaching methods is of the greatest importance to us. The mirror of our success is the satisfaction of our clients that we aprreciate the most.

We are a family school whose philosophy and card is the individual approach to every student and it is no exception if whole families study in different courses. The object of our language school's location and facilities is to create friendly and creative atmosphere and the schoolrooms are adjusted both to children and adults. The teaching is aimed at all five language skills – speaking, using grammar and vocabulary, reading, listening and writing. Thanks to our specialised computer schoolroom the teaching can be carried out by means of e-learning if required.

There are 25 language teachers currently working at our language school. They are professionals whose internationally recognized certificates and long-time experience in teaching languages prove their highest qualities. Only in our language school you can find the highest number of foreign language teachers in the Banska Bystrica region. Diversity in culture and in language varieties has a positive effect on the overall educational process and it makes it interesting and challenging.

In the 2011/2012 school year there are 700 satisfied students in the afternoon courses, therefrom 300 children and teenagers and 300 successful company clients. We have 37 qualified Slovak and Foreign teachers.

The SPEAK Language School is currently a British Council and Cambridge ESOL preparation centre, meaning that we were given a preparation centre status by both institutions. Thus we prepare students for Cambridge ESOL and IELTS exams and we also help them with registration, communication with exam organizer, we provide them with necessary information, we handle their enquiries, question, complains...

At the same time we do our best to provide services of high quality and to build reputation – so far every student was recommended to take or not to take an exam by his/her language teacher before the registration. We are proud of our 100% success rate saying that every student registered for the exam and recommended by the teacher to take the exam passed.

All our students have an opportunity to take free MOCK EXAM at least once in half-year course and twice in whole-year course.

It is kind of a dry run, which means that students have the same conditions as in an actual exam. They are also given the results and the teacher tells them how to improve the language skills and what to focus on. Mock exams are taken at our school usually on Saturdays, rarely on Fridays. Applicants who are not students of our school or are students of another course can take the exam as well, currently for a fee of €18.

We have had a Cambridge ESOL and IELTS preparation courses coordinator for two years in our school. He is one of our qualified native speakers, he has long-time experience with examination. Before registration for the course and exam students attend an interview with the coordinator, who provides them with all the information about the exam, recommends the most suitable exam for each student, he is an examiner of the mock exam and presents students‘ mock exam results, he decides who is ready for the exam and who should improve his/her language skills first. He also serves as a consultant for other language teachers teaching in our preparation courses.

The services mentioned above are main benefits for our students and for all who come to get information about exams.

British Council Bratislava and their examination centres in Slovakia organize Cambridge ESOL and IELTS paper based exams, taken in written form. Taking into account organization demands, as examination materials are sent from Cambridge, exams are usually taken three times a year depending on the demand. IELTS are taken at least once a year. They used to organize computer based exams, however for a very little demand they do not offer them anymore.

For 2012 there are more exam dates, especially in summer time. Detailed information, prices and dates are given on British Council website http://www.britishcouncil.org/slovakia-exams.htm.

Banská Bystrica Cambridge examination centre has organized computer based Cambridge ESOL exams since October 1st, since June 2012 they plan to organize paper based exams, they do not organize IELTS exams. Prices, dates and other detailed information are available on the website http://www.cambridgeexams.sk/.

Considering the fact that we are a preparation centre and we are not committed to either of the above mentioned institutions to register our students to their examination centre, we can advise, help and recommend our students the centre and the exam type, which is the most suitable for them and which they choose themselves. There are advantages and disadvantages in both paper based and computer based exams. The choice is up to every student.
